NHL - Latest Rangers Player Notes
12/28/2017 - Chris Kreider  
F Chris Kreider has been diagnosed with a blood clot in his right arm and will be sidelined indefinitely, the team announced on Thursday. Kreider exited after the first period of Wednesday's game against the Washington Capitals and did not return. The 26-year-old has collected 11 goals and as many assists with 29 penalty minutes in 37 games this season for the Rangers.

G Ondrej Pavelec stopped 30 shots in Wednesday's 1-0 shootout victory over Washington. Pavelec denied T.J. Oshie and Alex Ovechkin in the shootout. Pavelec was at his best in the second period when the Capitals pumped 13 shots on net.

G Henrik Lundqvist made a season-high 45 saves in Thursday's loss to the Devils, including 22 in the second period when the Rangers were outshot 23-8. Twice in that period, he robbed New Jersey's Kyle Palmieri from point-blank range, and he also made superb saves against Marcus Johansson and Drew Stafford. "We still found a way to get a point in a game where we didn't do a lot," Lundqvist said. "You have to give Jersey credit, they played really well. The biggest thing, I feel, is that they wanted it more."

G Henrik Lundqvist made 39 saves, including 16 in the first period, in Tuesday's 4-1 victory over Anaheim. Lundqvist denied Rickard Rakell on a breakaway in the first period. "I feel really good," said Lundqvist, who has a .928 save percentage in his past 18 starts. "I feel like the team is playing really well and that's helpful. I can focus on the shooter a lot. It's a big thing for me to commit to the shooter a lot more, feeling that support from the guys around me. I think the last month and a half I have been feeling really good."

C Paul Carey scored twice in Tuesday's 4-1 victory over Anaheim. Carey entered the game with two goals on the season and without a two-goal game in his career. "It's a big night. It was a lot of fun," said Carey, who had one goal in 32 career games before this season. "I was trying to get that third one. It's nice to get rewarded. Our line has been playing really well and working really hard. It's nice to see some pucks go in."

RW Dustin Brown played in his 999th NHL game Monday. The hard-hitting 33-year-old veteran has been incredibly durable in his NHL career, missing just 17 games over the past 14 seasons.

G Henrik Lundqvist made 33 saves in Saturday's 3-2 overtime victory at Boston. Lundqvist is 8-0-0 in his last eight back halves of personal back-to-backs, including 2-0 this season. He has yielded two goals or fewer in all eight of those games. "Challenging game. They're a good team," Lundqvist said after securing his 27th career victory over the Bruins.

LW Mats Zuccarello scored a power-play goal 1:56 into overtime in Saturday's 3-2 victory at Boston. Zuccarello, getting the puck in the right faceoff circle, waited, waited and, with Chris Kreider serving as a screen, fired a wrist shot over the shoulder of G Tuukka Rask, "I didn't think we played our best game today," said Zuccarello, who added "I was probably the worst player out there."

RW Michael Grabner scored his 16th goal of the season in Saturday's 3-2 overtime victory at Boston. Grabner scored when his shot went over the net and bounced back into the crease with Rask knocking it into his own net.

C J.T. Miller scored his sixth goal of the season in Saturday's 3-2 overtime victory at Boston. Miller scored on a power-play breakaway off a pass from D Ryan McDonagh.

LW Chris Kreider's goal ended New York's five-game power-play drought during their win against the Kings Friday. D Kevin Shattenkirk's shot bounced off Kreider in front of the net and past goaltender Jonathan Quick at 10:23 of the first period to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead.

12/15/2017 - Rick Nash  
LW Rich Nash scored an unassisted goal with 3:27 remaining in regulation that broke a tie and helped vault the Rangers to a 4-2 victory over the Kings. The story of Nash's season has been the inability to finish on an abundance of great scoring chances. He entered Friday with just eight goals on 97 shots, tied for the 21st most in the league, and a shooting percentage about four points below his career numbers. But with the game on the line, Nash picked an opportune time to score his ninth goal. He and multiple tiple dangerous opportunities to score in the first period but was unable to finish. "In the first period, he had three great looks," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "He wasn't able to hit the net and bury it. But at the right time, he came up real big for us.

G Henrik Lundqvist made 27 stops and became the 15th goalie in NHL history to record 20,000 saves in the Rangers' game against Ottawa on Wednesday.

LW Rick Nash forced overtime by scoring his eighth goal of the season on a deflection with 3:41 remaining in regulation, but the Rangers lost 2-1 to the Stars in a shootout.

12/12/2017 - Ondrej Pavelec  
G Ondrej Pavelec stopped 44 shots in Monday's shootout loss to the Stars. Pavelec is the first Rangers goaltender to make 40 or more saves in two consecutive appearances since Dan Blackburn on Nov. 23, 2001 at Washington and Dec. 1, 2001, at Montreal.

12/12/2017 - Mika Zibanejad  
C Mika Zibanejad (concussion) missed his sixth consecutive game Monday, though he participated in the morning skate. Zibanejad said he is feeling better, but he will not be cleared until he participates in a full practice, coach Alain Vigneault said.

G Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 26 shots as the Rangers beat the Devils 5-2 on Saturday night. Following a loss at Washington on Friday, coach Alain Vigneault decided to use Henrik Lundqvist for a second straight game, and the Rangers seemed to respond.

LW Mats Zuccarello scored twice in Saturday's win over the Devils. He also had a bid defensive play. With the Rangers leading 1-0 in the first period, the Devils' Brian Gibbons fired a shot that squeezed through goalie Henrik Lundqvist's legs and was rolling toward the open net, but Zuccarello reached it before it could cross the line.

C Mika Zibanejad (concussion) missed his fifth straight game. Coach Alain Vigneault said Zibanejad has been skating, but there is still no timetable for his return.

LW Michael Grabner scored his 14th goal of the season on Friday night in the Capitals' 4-2 victory over the Rangers.

12/09/2017 - Henrik Lundqvist  
G Henrik Lundqvist, who had won five straight, made 36 saves in the first meeting of the season between Capital and Rangers on Friday night. "I felt really sharp," said Lundqvist, who had missed New York's previous game due to an illness. "It (stinks) to give up four goals, especially two late, but overall I felt really good."

G Alexandar Georgiev was assigned to Hartford of the American Hockey League on Wednesday. Georgiev was recalled by the Rangers on Tuesday. He has appeared in 17 games with the Wolf Pack this season, posting a 4-7-4 record with a 3.29 GAA and .897 save percentage.

G Marek Mazanec was signed by the New York Rangers on Wednesday. Mazanec, 26, was assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League. Mazanec has appeared in 31 career NHL games over parts of three seasons, all with the Nashville Predators, recording an 8-13-4 record with a 2.98 goals-against average, .895 save percentage and two shutouts. He made 25 of his 31 appearances with the Predators during his rookie season in 2013-14.

LW Pavel Buchnevich scored the deciding goal in Tuesday's 4-3 victory at Pittsburgh. Buchnevich attempted a pass across the slot, but the puck hit the leg of Pittsburgh D Kris Letang and sailed over the glove of Penguins G Tristan Jarry at 11:12 of the third to break a 3-3 tie.
