Bills cut Leinart; Kolb headed for IR

The Buffalo Bills released quarterback Matt Leinart on Friday, and the team reportedly will place injured quarterback Kevin Kolb on injured reserve, ending the possibility that he will play for the Bills this season.
Leinart wrote on Twitter that he was released by the Bills before the team could even issue an official release.
"Tough game. Tough situation. No excuses. Thanks (sic) you to the Bills organization!"
Leinart wrote that in a tweet that was later deleted, but the Bills verified the moves as part of 18 cuts.
Leinart was signed Sunday, the same day the team acquired Thad Lewis from Cleveland as the Bills desperately added veteran arms with rookie EJ Manuel recovering from minor knee surgery and Kolb out indefinitely with a concussion. Leinart struggled in his lone preseason appearance for the Bills, completing just three of 10 passes for 11 yards with a pair of interceptions.
Kolb might have been waived if he had not suffered a concussion. Instead, according to Joe Buscaglia of 550 WGR, the Bills will place Kolb on injured reserve. He could be waived from IR or released with an injury settlement.
In any case, Kolb would not play for the Bills this season.
Also released: defensive linemen Kourtnei Brown and Jarron Gilbert, running backs Zach Brown and Kendall Gaskins, defensive backs Crezdon Butler, Jordan Dangerfield, Kip Edwards and T.J. Heath, offensive linemen Antoine Caldwell, Zach Chibane, Zebrie Sanders and David Snow, tight ends Dorin Dickerson and Nick Provo, wide receiver Brandon Kaufman and linebackers Keith Pough and Brian Smith.
The team also announced center Eric Wood has signed a contract extension
