 Draft Scout Player News
01/11/19 - Four Alabama players are skipping their final seasons to enter the NFL draft, including All-America left tackle Jonah Williams and Outland Trophy-winning defensive lineman Quinnen Williams. Those projected first-rounders announced their intentions on Friday, along with versatile tailback Josh Jacobs and tight end Irv Smith Jr. Jonah Williams and Quinnen Williams are unanimous All-Americans rated as potential Top 10 picks. Jacobs and Smith are also listed as potential late first-rounders in at least one mock draft. Jacobs was a diverse threat for the Tide on offense and special teams. He ran for 640 yards and a team-high 11 touchdowns while catching 20 passes for 247 yards and three scores. Once a lightly recruited player who was a late addition to his Alabama recruiting class, he averaged 30.6 yards on 14 kick returns with a TD. "This decision has definitely been tough for me," he said. "Even on the ride here, I still didn't know exactly what choice I wanted to make." - AP College Football
08/15/17 - RB Josh Jacobs was dealing with a hamstring injury midway through camp that kept him out of the first scrimmage.
08/01/17 - RB Josh Jacobs could become a Kevin Faulk-type contributor in Brian Daboll's offense. The New England Patriots consistently used third-down type backs in niche roles as receivers, and Jacobs' skill set is suited for that spot in Daboll's offense with the Crimson Tide. A three-star recruit, Jacobs ran the 40-yard dash in 4.50 seconds and had the top vertical jump on the team (35.5 inches) at spring timing day. The 5-foot-10 Jacobs, who is up to 212 pounds from 204 pounds last season, also bench-pressed 405 pounds and squatted 500 pounds. "It's hard to take him down," former Alabama wide receiver ArDarius Stewart said told the Birmingham News of Jacobs, who ran for 564 yards and four touchdowns as a freshman while also catching 14 passes for 166 yards. "He can make plays when you don't think there's anything there."
10/07/16 - OCT 3 SEC FRESHMAN PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Joshua Jacobs, RB, Alabama...The freshman running back made his first career start and recorded his first 100-yard rushing performance...The native of Tulsa, Okla., rushed for a 100 yards and scored a touchdown on just 16 carries to average 6.2 yards per rush...Also caught a career-best threes passes for 44 yards to give him 144 total yards from scrimmage...Converted nine first downs on 19 touches, including seven rushing first downs and two in the passing game...Averaged 7.6 yards per touch with long plays of 28 yards rushing and 23 yards receiving. - SEC Football
